Mentioned in Slack
Mentioned in Slack is a built-in signal. When someone posts a person's email or LinkedIn profile URL in a Slack channel the Syft app is in, Syft researches that person and replies in the thread. The person becomes a contact you can see, filter and act on with motions.
It is on by default. You find it in the Slack tab of the Signals page.
What counts
- A new message in a Slack channel the Syft app is in.
- The message contains an email address or a LinkedIn profile URL.
- Messages from other apps count too, for example form or CRM notifications posted into the channel. To stop Syft from researching a sender's messages, open the More actions menu on one of their messages in Slack and use Syft's ignore-sender shortcut.
Replies in threads and Syft's own messages are not researched.
To choose which channels Syft is in, see Slack and your Integrations settings.
Turn it on or off
- Go to Signals under Settings.
- Open the Slack tab.
- Use the toggle on the Mentioned in Slack card.
When it is off, Syft ignores emails and LinkedIn URLs posted in Slack. It does not research them, does not reply and does not charge.
If you do not have permission to edit signals, the card says to ask a workspace admin.
Billing
Mentioned in Slack is billed as a Signal Credit:
- 1 credit per unique person per billing period. Posting the same person again that period is free.
- One charge per person across finding signals. Mentioned in Slack, Identified visitor and RB2B Visitor Identification share one count per person per period. If your website already identified someone this period, a Slack mention of them costs nothing more.
- Only people Syft finds are charged.
- If you also activate the person with a motion, the normal contact activation charge applies separately.
To see who was charged, open Plans & Billing and click Mentioned in Slack in the Signal credits table.
See Credits & Usage for the full billing model.
FAQ
Do I pay for alerts Syft posts to Slack?
No. Syft's own alerts and motion messages are never researched. This signal only covers people your team or other apps post into the channel.
Can I keep Slack alerts but stop the research?
Yes. Turn off Mentioned in Slack. Motions keep posting alerts to Slack as before.
